Mmr Bag Works

Our workshop is at Number 656 on V. K. Road, right in the PSG Tech Compound area in Peelamedu. It’s a busy industrial sort of place. The sound of heavy-duty sewing machines is pretty much the soundtrack to our lives. We make all sorts of bags here, so there are piles of canvas, nylon, and zippers scattered across the benches. It’s a practical environment. We don't have air conditioning, just some large fans that move the air around while we work. The floors are a bit scuffed from moving heavy rolls of material back and forth. Everyone here knows their job, whether it’s cutting the patterns or stitching the handles on. We don't have a marketing team or a fancy office; we just have our machines and our hands. Sometimes we struggle with a difficult design, and we all huddle around a table to figure out how to make it work. The road outside is always busy with students and workers, but we stay focused on the tasks at hand. We eat our lunch together in a small corner of the shop. It’s a bit dusty, and there’s always a thread stuck to your shirt, but it’s a good way to earn a living. We just keep our heads down and try to get every bag finished properly before the day is out. It is noisy, but we are used to the hum.
