We are set up over at number 647 on Sathupalli Road, right in the Rama Naicken Palayam area. It’s a busy place with a lot of noise from the street, but we’ve gotten used to it over the years. Our workshop is filled with the smell of leather and glue most mornings. We aren't a big corporation or anything like that. It’s just us working with the machines and making sure the shoes are put together right. Some days the floor is a mess with scraps and thread, but we try to tidy up before heading home. The commute to Rama Naicken Palayam can be a bit of a headache with the traffic on Sathupalli Road, yet we manage to get in early. We spend a lot of time checking the soles and the stitching. If a machine breaks, we usually fix it ourselves. It's practical work. We don't have a fancy front office with coffee machines and soft chairs. We mostly sit on wooden stools and keep our heads down. People around here know the building because of the old sign out front. We’ve been here a long time, so the walls have some scuffs. We just focus on getting the crates packed and ready for the trucks. It’s a simple life, really. We finish the work, lock up the gate, and head home to do it all again the next day. That is just how it goes here. It’s hard work but we enjoy it.
