Nataraj Hospital

Nataraj Hospital is on Bazaar Street in Madukkarai, near Singanallur. This street is always packed with people and shops, so it’s a very lively part of town to be in. The hospital building has been here for a while and shows its age a bit, but it’s a solid place. We have a reception area that can get quite busy, especially on market days. There are rows of simple metal chairs for people to sit on while they wait. The hallways are narrow and lead to the different rooms where we see patients. It’s a very basic setup without any of the polished look of a new city hospital. We have a small team of staff who handle everything from the front gate to the medicine counter. Since we are on Bazaar Street, there is always the sound of people talking and vehicles moving outside. We don't have a mission statement on the wall or any marketing brochures. We just open the doors every morning and take care of whoever comes in from the Singanallur area. The floors are made of stone and we keep them swept as much as we can with all the people walking through. It’s a practical, local hospital that serves the community in a very direct way. It feels like a natural part of the busy market life that surrounds us every single day.
