Mariappan Trading

Mariappan Trading is based in Annur, near Mettupalayam. We’ve been working out of this area for years. It’s a good location for a trading business because of the main roads nearby. We see a lot of trucks and lorries passing through all day long. Our setup is pretty basic. We have a storage area and a small desk where we handle the paperwork. Most of the time we are busy loading or unloading something from a delivery. Mettupalayam is known for its activity and we are right in the middle of it. The weather gets pretty hot in the afternoons so we try to do the heavy lifting early in the morning before it gets unbearable. We don’t have a huge staff. It’s mostly just a couple of us and some helpers when things get really busy during the peak season. We handle all sorts of goods depending on what’s available or in demand. Sometimes the market is slow and we just sit around talking or drinking coffee. Other times it’s so fast we barely have time for lunch. It’s just a regular trading life. We don’t have any polished marketing stuff or brochures to show. If you come by you’ll just see us working in the warehouse. The building is an old one but it keeps the rain off the goods. We’ve thought about painting it but never do. It’s just how things are for us.
