Kurinji Hospital

Out here in Udayam Talayan, things feel a bit different than the big city centers. We’ve been operating this hospital for a while now. It’s not a massive place with hundreds of beds. We know most of the people who walk through our doors by their first names. It’s the kind of place where you might wait a few minutes because the doctor is still talking to the last person about their garden or their family. We don't have a lot of fancy technology that hums and glows. We just have the basics to make sure everyone stays healthy. The building has some character, which is a nice way of saying it’s old. We keep it clean, though. The wind blows through the hallways when we leave the back door open on hot days. It’s a simple setup. We don't have any big mission statements written on the walls. We just want to make sure if someone comes in with a problem, they leave feeling a bit better. Sometimes the supply truck is late, and we have to make do. That’s just life in a place like this. The staff here mostly grew up around these parts. We like it here. It’s quiet in the evenings once the last patient leaves. We just lock up and head home to our families, ready to start over the next day. It’s been our home for a long time.
