Kumaran Sound System

Our place, Kumaran Sound System, is over in Singanallur on Boiyer Street. It’s a bit of a residential area, so we try not to be too loud when we are testing the speakers in the afternoon. We are quite close to the police quarters, which is the main thing people look for when they are coming to see us. The shop is at 46C. It's full of cables, amplifiers, and boxes. It might look a bit disorganized to someone walking in for the first time, but we know exactly where every single wire is kept. Coimbatore can be quite busy, but Singanallur has its own pace. We’ve been handling sound for a long time. It’s mostly about knowing which speaker works for which space. We don't have a big website or a marketing person. Most of our work comes from people just knowing our name or seeing us at an event. We spend a lot of time loading and unloading trucks. It’s heavy work and it gets dusty. We just wear our regular clothes and get on with it. Sometimes we sit outside on the steps when it’s quiet and just watch the street. We aren't looking to be the biggest company in the city. We just want to make sure the sound is clear and that we get home at a decent hour. It's a simple enough life for us.
