Kottamala Coffee And Spices Private Limited is located at Door No. 11/124/A in the Kottamala Buildings. The building is an old one, and you can smell the spices as soon as you get near the door. We handle both coffee and various spices that come from the local growers around here. It is a very hands-on kind of business. We spend hours sitting on the floor sorting through cardamom and peppercorns. We have to pick out the stems and the bits that aren't good by hand. It makes your fingers smell like spices for days, but you get used to it. The coffee grinders we have are pretty old and make a lot of noise, so it is never quiet in here. We aren't a big factory. It is more like a large workshop where everyone knows each other. My cousins and a few neighbors work here with me. We don't have fancy packaging machines that do everything. We still use small scales and seal the bags ourselves. Sometimes the market prices for pepper or coffee drop and we get a bit worried, but we’ve been doing this long enough to know it eventually settles. We don't have a big sign out front. People who need us usually know where to find us in the Kottamala Buildings. It is just a regular life of sorting, grinding, and packing every single day. It keeps us busy and pays the bills.
