If you head down Mettupalayam Road, you’ll find our building right where the traffic usually starts to get heavy. It’s a busy stretch of road, so there is always a lot of movement outside our front door. Inside Kalpana Medical Centre, it’s a different kind of busy. There is usually a line at the pharmacy counter and a few people sitting on the benches waiting to see a doctor. We spend our time filing records, checking temperatures, and making sure the rooms are ready for the next person. It’s a lot of walking back and forth on the tiled floors. The building itself has seen plenty of years, and it’s got that specific hospital smell that never really goes away no matter how much you clean. We don't have a marketing team or anyone making fancy brochures. We just have the staff who show up every day to help out. Sometimes we run out of chairs when it gets crowded in the evenings. The tea stall nearby is where most of us go during our short breaks to get away from the phone calls for a minute. Mettupalayam Road can be a nightmare for parking, but somehow people find their way to us. It’s just a regular medical spot where the work is constant and the days feel long but productive. We focus on getting through the patient list and making sure the paperwork is sorted before we lock up.
