K. K. Agro

If you find yourself on Andal Street near the Hopes College area, you will probably see us. K. K. Agro is located right near the old Manis Theater. It is a pretty interesting spot because you get the students from the college walking by all day mixed in with the people heading to catch a movie. The shop usually smells like earth and dried seeds, which is something I have grown to like over the years. Sacks of different agricultural supplies are stacked up against the walls, and sometimes they spill over onto the sidewalk when a new shipment comes in. It is a lot of heavy lifting, moving those bags around and getting them onto the back of trucks or motorcycles. We do not have a fancy display or anything. Most of our stuff is just sitting in the original sacks or wooden crates. During the afternoons, it can get quite hot, so we sit under the big ceiling fan and wait for the sun to go down a bit. The theater next door sometimes has long lines of people, and the noise from the speakers occasionally drifts over to our side. We do not have a big corporate team. It is just a few of us who know where everything is kept. If someone needs a specific kind of fertilizer or a tool for their field, we usually know exactly which pile it is buried under. It is a bit messy and loud, but it is how we have always operated here in this corner of the city.
