Gem Hospital

You can find us at 45 Pankaja Mills Road, near Sowripalayam Pirivu in Ramanathapuram. This part of town is usually quite active with the mills and all the businesses nearby. Gem Hospital has been a fixture on this road for a good bit of time. The building is easy to spot once you get close to the intersection. Inside, it’s a lot of white walls and the sound of people talking in the corridors. We don't have much time for sitting around. There is always a floor to mop or a file to find. We try to keep things moving so nobody is waiting too long in the lobby. The chairs are the basic kind, and the lighting is just what you’d expect. It’s a very practical environment. Working here, you get used to the sounds of the traffic on Pankaja Mills Road. Sometimes a heavy truck goes by and you can feel it a little bit. We are just a group of people working together to keep the place running. It’s not like those big corporate hospitals you see in movies. It’s more local and down-to-earth. We know the shopkeepers nearby and sometimes we get our lunch from the stalls down the street. It’s a simple life here in Ramanathapuram, even when the hospital gets crowded with people.
