Dr. Dasarathan International School

Dr. Dasarathan International School is located right on the Mettupalayam Main Road in Coimbatore. If you know Vadamadurai, you know how busy this stretch of road gets with all the trucks and cars passing through. The school building is right there at 3/31, so there is always a bit of a hum from the traffic outside. We arrive early to beat the worst of the congestion in the morning. Inside, the noise dies down a little, but there is always something going on in the corridors. We have been working out of this spot in Kurudampalayam for some time now. The staff room is small and packed with stacks of exam papers and textbooks. There is a specific smell of chalk and old paper that stays in the rooms no matter how much we clean. We do not spend money on glossy brochures; most people find us just by passing by on the main road. The kids play out back when it isn't too dusty from the wind. Sometimes the ceiling fans squeak, and someone has to go up there with a bit of oil to stop the noise. It is a practical place for local families. We mostly deal with everyday problems like lost pens or fixing a broken desk. At the end of the day, we lock the big front gate and wait for the traffic to thin out before heading home. It is a regular part of life here in this corner of the city.
