Digital Genie

Digital Genie is over on 4th Street in Gandhipuram. Door number 249. It is a plain building, nothing too fancy to look at from the outside. When you walk in, you’ll notice the space is mostly taken up by the equipment we use every day. We spend most of our time at the back where the light is a bit better for working. The street outside can get pretty crowded during the middle of the day, so it is usually quieter in the mornings when we first open up the shutters. There are a few chairs for people to sit if they are waiting for something quick. The walls are mostly white, but we have some odd bits of paper and notes pinned up near the phone. It’s a local spot, so we see a lot of the same faces coming by from the other shops nearby. Sometimes we have to move boxes around just to make a path to the counter. It isn't a showroom; it’s a place where work actually happens. We don’t have a big staff, just a few of us making sure everything runs like it should. Usually, there is a fan humming in the corner to keep things cool because it gets warm with all the electronics running. We just focus on the tasks at hand and try to stay organized despite the constant flow of people coming in from 4th Street. It is a lot of manual work and checking things twice before they go out.
