Commi-I(Bakery & Confectionary)

I work over in Nedungal, which is a quiet spot in the Krishnagiri district. The bakery work happens here, where we deal with flour and sugar all day long. My name is Poongavanam, and my father is Kothandaram. We’ve been in this area for a long time. The kitchen isn't very big, but we have enough space for the ovens and the mixing tables. Making bread and sweets is what we do. It gets very hot in the bakery, especially during the afternoons. We start early in the morning when the air is still cool. The address is just a regular place in the village near the post office. We don't have a big storefront with bright lights. Most people who buy from us are neighbors or people passing through the village. We focus on getting the dough right and making sure the bakes don't burn. Sometimes the delivery of ingredients is late because the trucks have trouble on the rural roads. We just wait and get on with what we can. The work is messy and my clothes usually have flour on them by ten in the morning. My hands are always dry from the oven heat, but that's just how it is. We don't use any fancy machines, just the basic stuff that works for us. If you are in Nedungal, you can probably smell the baking when the wind blows the right way toward the road.
