We are based out of the Poonakutty Tannery area in Nagalkeni, Chormepet. Being near the tanneries means the air always has a certain scent to it, but we don't mind it much anymore after all these years. Our space is mostly for handling materials and keeping track of our supplies. It is an old building with high ceilings and not much light in the back rooms. We have heavy wooden tables where we lay out everything we are working on. It is a quiet place compared to the main roads, though you can hear the trucks coming and going from the other units nearby. We have a small office in the corner with a desk that has been here since we started. Most of our day is spent checking through stock and talking to suppliers on the phone to see when things will arrive. We don't really have a big staff, just a few of us who have known each other for a long time. We usually drink our tea outside in the afternoons to catch a bit of a breeze if there is one. People come by to drop off items or pick up what they ordered last week. It isn't a retail shop where people come to browse, it is more of a place where business gets handled. We don't worry about being polished or having a modern look. The floors are concrete and the walls could use paint, but it suits us.
