Ayyappa Carpenter Works

We have been working out of this spot on Arupadai Nagar Road for quite some time now. If you head down toward Poonga Nagar, right on the Chettipalayam Main Road at Site No. 32, you will find our small workshop. It’s usually covered in sawdust and the smell of cut timber because that is just the nature of what we do at Ayyappa Carpenter Works. Honestly, the floor is rarely ever clean for more than ten minutes before another project starts up. We spend our days measuring out planks, fixing old frames, and dealing with all sorts of wood. Some days the wood is stubborn, and other days things go together just right. It’s not fancy here by any means. There’s a pile of offcuts in the corner and a few old benches that have seen better days. People from the neighborhood stop by mostly to ask if we can fix a broken chair leg or help with a cupboard that won't close. We usually have the radio playing in the background to keep the energy up while we saw and sand. It’s hard work on the hands, especially when it’s hot out, but it keeps us busy. We don't have a big front office or anything like that. You just walk in and talk to whoever is holding a hammer. That's just how we run things here on the main road, day in and day out. We just keep our heads down and get the sawing done.
