We are located at 93 Vk Road in Peelamedu. It’s a busy part of the city, so there is always the sound of scooters and buses passing by outside. Our workshop isn't the biggest place on the block, but we fit everything we need inside. We spend most of our time at the workbenches or working with the manual tools. Engineering work requires a lot of standing, so we’ve all got pretty worn-out boots by the end of the year. The floor is solid concrete and has some cracks and stains from moving heavy parts around over the years. We keep the windows open to catch whatever breeze comes through, though it usually just brings in the heat and road noise. Our neighbors are other small shops, so we know most of the people on this stretch of Vk Road. We don’t really have a lobby or a waiting area; if you come by, you’ll likely find us in the middle of a project with grease on our hands. We write down our notes on whatever paper is handy, usually old notebooks or cardboard scraps. It’s a straightforward way of working. There is a small tea stall just down the road that we visit twice a day to stretch our legs. The work is steady, and we don't feel much need to change how we do things. It’s just how engineering shops go in this neighborhood. We keep things simple and keep moving forward with the daily jobs.
