Lhang Kichoi Farmer Producer Company Limited

We are based out in Khanpi Village, which is quite a way up in the Henglep area. Being in Churachandpur means we are used to the hills and the kind of farming that happens here. Our office is just at House Number 8, where we gather to talk about the crops and how the season is going. Lhang Kichoi was started because a bunch of us farmers needed a way to work together. In a place like this, doing things alone is tough because the roads aren't always great and getting stuff to market is a bit of a project. We grow what we can on the slopes and in the small patches of flat land we have. It is hard work and your back usually hurts by the end of the day. We aren't trying to be some huge corporation. We are just people from the village who know the soil here. Sometimes we have meetings to figure out seeds or tools, and we sit around and drink tea while we plan. It is a slow process but it works for us. Living in Manipur, you learn to be patient with things. We don't have any big marketing plans or fancy speeches. We just want our farms to do well so our families are okay. It’s just us, working the land in Khanpi and trying to keep things moving forward year by year.
