Vedavathi Spices

We are over at 54/76-9 on the Main Road in Laxmipuram. Vedavathi Spices is a place where you can always smell something strong in the air. We spend our time weighing out different powders and seeds. The air is thick with the scent of turmeric and chili most days. We have big bags stacked against the walls. It is a lot of manual work for everyone. We sift through things and make sure the stalks and stones are taken out. The Main Road is always noisy with buses and cars passing by, but inside we just focus on the scales. We do not have fancy packaging with lots of bright pictures. We use plain bags mostly. People in Laxmipuram come to us because they know we have been here for a while. We do not use a lot of heavy machines. It is mostly done by hand. The floors need sweeping every hour because the spices get everywhere. It is a bit of a messy job but we like the routine. We have got regulars who have been coming to us for many years. We recognize their faces as soon as they walk in the door. We do not try to be a big brand. We just want to sell the same spices we would use in our own kitchens. That is really all there is to it for us.
