Srinivasa Rice Mills

Srinivasa Rice Mills is located out on the Tirupati Highway at 56-23/19 in Kurappali. It’s a bit of a trek for some, but being on the highway makes it easier for the trucks to pull in and out. The mill has been here for a good number of years. You can hear the machines running from the road if it's a quiet morning. We spend most of the day covered in a bit of grain dust, which is just part of the job. The roof is corrugated metal, so it gets quite warm during the summer months. We have a few staff members who have been with us forever. They know how the old huller works better than anyone. We get farmers coming in with their loads and sometimes they stay for a chat or a glass of water. It’s not a fancy setup at all. The yard is mostly dirt and can get muddy when the rains come. We try to keep things organized but during the peak season, there are bags stacked everywhere you look. Usually, the office door is propped open with a brick to let the breeze in. We don’t have any big signs or neon lights. If you’re driving down the highway toward Tirupati, you’ll see our gate. It’s just a local mill trying to get the work done before the sun sets. We don't have any big corporate plans. We just keep our heads down and handle the grain as it comes in.
