P S R Bricks

We spend most of our days here at the yard on Pappanapalle Street. It is a dusty place but that is just how it goes with bricks. My family has been around Srikalahasti for a long time. People know where 59/10 is because they see the stacks from the road. Sometimes the trucks get stuck when it rains heavy. We just keep moving things around. There are about ten of us working here usually. We start early when it is still cool. By noon the sun gets really hot on the clay. We don't have a fancy office or anything like that. Just a small desk and some chairs under the shade. Neighbors stop by to chat or ask about prices. We don't do much advertising. Most people just find us by walking over. The bricks are heavy and the work is hard on the hands. My boots are always covered in red mud. It’s not a quiet job. You hear the clinking of bricks all day long. Some days are slow and we just sit and drink tea. Other days everyone wants their load at the same time. We try to keep up with what folks need for their houses. It is a simple life here in Srikalahasti. We just focus on making sure the stacks are straight and the count is right when someone buys a load. That is pretty much it for our daily routine.
