About Chitrakala School Of Art – Education in Chittoor
We are tucked away at Door No 2(B) in SV Nagar, which is a quiet enough part of Tirupati. It’s a small place where we keep all the art supplies and the stools for the students. The smell of oil paint and charcoal is usually the first thing you notice when you walk in through the door. We don't have a huge gallery or anything like that. It’s just a workspace with some tables and a lot of paper everywhere. Most of the kids from the neighborhood come here in the evenings or on the weekends. You’ll see them carrying their big drawing pads and boxes of crayons. The walls are covered with sketches that people have left behind over the years. Some are really good and others are just practice, but we keep them up anyway. SV Nagar is a nice area to be in because it isn't as loud as the main roads. It gives the students a bit of peace while they are trying to draw. We spend a lot of time sharpening pencils and cleaning up spilled water from the jars. It’s not a fancy studio by any means. It’s just a place for people who want to sit down and make something. Sometimes we run out of space and have to move the chairs around to fit everyone in. It feels like a second home to most of us who spend our afternoons here, just drawing and talking about different styles of art.
