We are located in the P N Krishnappa Building at D N 05 in Peramachanahalli Village, out in Chintamani. It’s a quiet village and we like it that way. Adarsha Chethana Agriculture Farmer Producer Company Limited is basically a group of us who wanted to do things a bit more officially. We rent this space and it’s become the hub for our farming activities. There’s always someone coming in to ask about seeds or to see if the market prices have changed. We don’t have a receptionist or anything like that. You just walk in and talk to whoever is sitting at the desk. Usually, there’s a smell of dry earth and grain in the air. We spend our time helping each other out with the paperwork and making sure the local crops get to the right buyers. It’s not always easy, and sometimes we have arguments about the best way to do things. But in the end, we all live in the same village so we work it out. The walls are a bit bare and the floor is just plain cement, but it serves its purpose. We keep a ledger of everyone who comes in and what they’ve brought from their fields. It’s a simple life and the work is steady. We just take it one day at a time and hope the weather stays good for the next planting.
