Our office is right there at Galla Mandi Chowk Baazar in Chhatarpur, which is a pretty loud and crowded spot to be every day. If you know the area, you know how the traffic gets around the market. We spend our time booking tickets and talking to people about where they need to go. It’s mostly buses and cars, trying to figure out schedules that actually work. The walls are covered with some old maps and a lot of sticky notes about who is going where. It gets dusty because of all the trucks passing by the Galla Mandi, so we end up cleaning the desks more than we’d like. We aren't a giant corporation with fancy uniforms; it’s just a few of us sitting around desks with phones that don't stop ringing. Sometimes a driver is late or a bus breaks down, and then the day gets really long while we try to fix the mess. People come in from the bazaar with their shopping bags to ask about prices for a trip to the city. We just give them the straight answer. It’s a lot of juggling dates and seats. In the evenings, the chowk gets even more hectic, but that’s when most people finish their work and come by to plan their travel. We stay open late because that's when the business happens. It’s just a regular travel spot in a busy part of town and we make sure the tickets are issued correctly.
