Woodhills Special School Foundation

We are located in the Manthri Synergy complex, specifically in unit F203. It is out on OMR in Padur, which is part of the Chengalpattu area near the city of Chennai. Being in an apartment complex means we have a very specific kind of space to work with. It is not a huge school building with a big field, but we make it work for the kids who come here. Woodhills Special School Foundation is something we started because we saw a real need in this part of the city. OMR is always growing and there are so many new families moving into the apartments here. We wanted to provide a place that was local and easy for them to reach. The unit is set up with different areas for learning and some space for play. It can get a bit loud sometimes with the children running around, but that is a good sound to hear. We don't have a big playground of our own, but we use the common spaces when we can. Our staff are mostly people who live in the same area or nearby. We don't have a corporate office or a board of directors wearing suits. It is just us teachers and helpers doing the daily work together. Sometimes the elevator in the building is a bit slow, so we just take the stairs to get up to the second floor. We don't have any fancy high-tech equipment, just the basics that help our students.
