Our office is located at No 65, Adarsh Apartments, right on the ground floor. We are on Vepery High Road in Chennai. It is an older building, which gives it a bit of character. Being on the ground floor is convenient because we do not have to deal with elevators or long flights of stairs. We deal with indirect tax matters here at the International Chamber Of Indirect Tax Professionals. It sounds like a dry subject, but it keeps us very busy. There are always new regulations or paperwork to look through. The room is usually filled with stacks of files and books about tax laws. We have a few tables where we sit and discuss different cases or updates. It is not a high-tech setup. We mostly rely on our computers and a lot of printed documents. Vepery is a busy area, so there is always noise from the street outside. We have gotten used to the sound of horns and buses passing by. Most of the people who come to see us are other professionals or people looking for some guidance on tax issues. We are not a big government department or anything like that. We are just a group of professionals who focused on this specific area of tax. The atmosphere is quiet for the most part, except for when we are debating a specific point of law. It is a practical space where we focus on our work and try to keep everything in order.
