Sr.Asst.Chemist

I work as a Senior Assistant Chemist over at 43.T on Temple Street. This is right off New Avadi Road in the Kilpauk area of Chennai. The 600010 zip code is where I spend most of my daylight hours. It’s an old part of the city. The lab is a bit cramped but it has what we need. I’ve been doing this for a while now. It’s mostly testing and looking at samples. The street outside is always crowded with people going to the temple or the shops. I like the smell of the city, even with the chemicals in the air inside. It's a lot of routine work. You have to be careful with the measurements. My desk is covered in reports and glass tubes. Chennai weather is always something to deal with, especially with the humidity in the lab. It's not a fancy research center you'd see in the movies. It’s just a workplace where we do our part. I walk to work most days since I’m close by. The building is grey and doesn’t stand out much. We don’t have a big sign. Most people who need to find us already know where we are. It’s a steady job and I like the precision of it. Just another day in Kilpauk. I usually take my lunch break by the window watching the traffic go past the old trees.
