Elchem

Ambattur Industrial Estate is a massive place, and we are tucked away at FC-3. Elchem has been here for a long time. You can smell the metal and oil in the air as soon as you turn the corner. It’s not a pretty office. We have old metal desks and the floor is stained from years of work. Most of the guys have been with us for a decade or more, so we don't really have to explain things to each other anymore. We just get to work. The morning starts with tea from the stall down the street. We talk about the weather or how hard it is to get parts delivered on time lately. The machines we use are loud, so we have to shout a bit to be heard. It gets pretty hot in here by mid-afternoon, especially in the summer months. We don't have a website guy or a fancy brochure. If people want to find us, they usually just hear about us from someone else in the estate. We handle a lot of chemical-related work, so things have to stay organized, even if the office looks a bit cluttered. There's always a pile of boxes near the loading dock waiting for the truck. It’s hard work, but it’s what we know. We aren't trying to change the world, just doing our part and keeping the business running as best as we can. It gets dark early in the winter but the work stays the same.
