Sastra Annadhanam Foundation

Sastra Annadhanam Foundation is based out of No 5 Lakshmi Nivas in Subbarayan Nagar. Being in Kodambakkam, there’s always something going on around us. We focus a lot on the traditional idea of giving food, which is what annadhanam is all about. Our setup isn’t anything special to look at. It’s just an old building where we keep our supplies. Most of the time, we are busy in the kitchen or out on the street. We started this because we saw a need right here in our own backyard. Sometimes the rain makes things difficult or the power goes out, but we just work around it. We don't have a marketing team or anyone to write fancy speeches. It is just a bunch of neighbors working together. We know most of the people who come to us by their first names. It’s not a formal thing at all. We might run out of supplies some days, or have too much on others, it’s just how it goes. If you are ever near Lakshmi Nivas, you’ll probably smell whatever we are cooking that day. We use simple ingredients and do things the old-fashioned way. There’s no big hierarchy here, just whoever is available to help. We try to keep things honest and straightforward without any fuss. Kodambakkam has changed a lot over the years, but the need for a good meal hasn't changed at all.
