Namma Streetlights Foundation

The Namma Streetlights Foundation is over here in Gangai Amman Colony, right at No. 2 in Vadapalani. If you know this part of Chennai, you know it gets pretty busy around the temple area, but our street stays mostly tucked away. We’ve been at this address for a while now, just working out of a small space. It is not a big fancy office with glass doors or anything like that. Just some desks and chairs where we get things done. Most days, you will find us checking on things around 600026. People stop by sometimes to ask questions or just to say hello when they are passing through the colony. It is a bit noisy during the day with the traffic from the main road, but that is just how it is in this city. We don't have a big marketing team or anyone to write glossy brochures. It is just a few of us trying to keep things moving. Sometimes the internet is slow or the power goes out for an hour, so we just step out for tea. You learn to work with what you have. We deal with the local stuff, mostly focused on what happens right outside our door and down the lanes. The address is easy to find if you look for the old apartment blocks. It is a practical setup. We aren’t trying to change the whole world at once, just doing our bit here.
