If you ever find yourself at the RTC Bus Stand, you’ve probably seen us over on Pothuvari Street. We are at 74/2. It’s a very loud spot to work because of the buses constantly pulling in and out. The air smells like diesel and tea most days. We’ve been operating out of this small space for a long time. It’s a bit cramped inside with all the ledgers and the items we sell. We have to keep things organized or we’d never find anything. Most of our day is spent dealing with people who are just passing through. They are usually in a hurry to catch a bus, so we have to be quick. We don't have a lot of fancy decorations. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we never seem to find the time. My brother and I handle everything ourselves. We get the stock in early and spend the rest of the time serving whoever walks in. It’s a practical kind of place. We don't make a big deal out of what we do. It’s just a job that needs doing. Sometimes it gets raining hard and the street floods a bit, but we stay open. People always need something when they are traveling. We just stay here, keep the shop tidy, and watch the buses go by while we count the change.
