Lydia Foundation

We have a small office on the 7th floor of Spencer Plaza, specifically at 715A. Being on Mount Road in Anna Salai means we are right in the middle of the Chennai rush. It’s a huge building, and sometimes it takes a while just to get up the elevator. Our foundation started here because we wanted to be where the people are. It’s a bit strange being in a shopping mall area, but it works for us. We don't have a lot of space, so we have to keep things very organized. There are always boxes of supplies in the corners. We aren't a big, polished group. We are just a few friends who decided to put our resources together. Most days we are on the phone or answering emails from people who need help. It gets a bit hectic when the mall is crowded, but our office stays fairly quiet. We don't have a fancy mission statement or anything like that. We just look at what needs to be done each morning and we do it. Sometimes we stay late because the work doesn't stop. We like the view of the city from up here, even if we are mostly looking at the traffic below. It’s a busy way to live, but it feels right. We are just trying to do some good from our little corner of the 600002 area.
