Jayanaam Green Foundation

Out here in Salem, specifically in the Nalikalpatti Post area, things move at a bit of a different pace. Our place is at 4/173 Arieari Kadu. It's a bit of a drive to get out here if you're coming from the main city center, but we like the space. We do a lot of work involving the local environment and plants. The foundation is basically run out of this spot. There's a lot of greenery around us, which makes sense given the name. We spend a good chunk of our day outside or dealing with things that come in from the nearby fields. It gets dusty sometimes, especially when the wind picks up across the open land. We aren't a big organization with a lot of funding or anything. It's mostly just a few of us trying to keep things running. We have some old desks and a computer that takes a minute to start up. People from the village stop by occasionally to talk about their crops or the weather. We don't have a formal schedule most of the time. If there's work to do, we do it. Sometimes we stay late when there's a big project, other times we wrap up early if the weather is too hot to stay inside. It's a practical way of living and working. We know the land around Nalikalpatti pretty well by now. It’s home for us and where the work happens. We keep a few stray cats around that we feed, and they just hang out on the porch while we work.
