Global Art India is over on Thirumalai Pillai Road in T Nagar. We are at number 59. It’s right across from Vidyo Dhaya School. You can see the school kids hanging out near the gates every afternoon. T Nagar is always a busy part of Chennai, so getting here can be a bit of a chore with the traffic. Our place is quite simple. We have a lot of tables set up for people to sit at. Sometimes it gets a bit messy with all the supplies around, but that is just how it is when you are working on things. The walls have a few things pinned up, mostly stuff that people have worked on here. The air conditioning is a bit old and makes a humming sound, but it keeps the heat away during the summer months. Most of us have been working here for a while and we know the neighborhood pretty well. There’s a guy who sells snacks on the corner who we see every day. The building itself is an older one, so the windows are those heavy wooden ones. We try to keep things organized, but on busy days, it’s hard to stay on top of the clutter. We are just a local spot where people come to do their work and spend some time. It is a quiet enough place once you get inside and away from the road noise. We just keep the door open for visitors.
