Ghanshyam

My name is Ghanshyam and you can find me at 83 N S C Bose Road. We are right in the middle of Sowcarpet here in Chennai. If you know this area, you know it’s a total maze of people, delivery carts, and bikes. It is loud from the early morning until late at night, but I’ve grown to love that energy over the years. My shop isn't anything special to look at. I have things stacked up to the ceiling because space is so hard to come by in Sowcarpet. I’ve been in this exact spot for a very long time, taking over the work that was started here before I was even born. I don't use computers for my daily accounts or billing. I still use a thick paper ledger and a pen because that is how I was taught to do it. It feels more honest and I don't have to worry about the power going out. I don’t have a website or any of those social media pages. I’m usually way too busy talking to the people who walk in off the street. Sometimes the heat in the afternoons is enough to make you want to close the shutters and go home, but we stay open. I don't have a big corporate philosophy. I just want to do my job and go home to my family. Life in Sowcarpet is busy and messy, and my business is pretty much the same. I just do my work.
