Ge Energy Power Conversion

This place is over on Plot 29A in the Thiru Vi Ka Industrial Estate. It’s right in the middle of Ekkatuthangal in Guindy. If you’ve ever been through this part of town, you know it’s packed with different factories and engineering firms. We work on power conversion here. It sounds technical because it is. We deal with a lot of big hardware that handles electricity for different industries. The building is a standard industrial setup. We have a lot of test equipment and workbenches where we look at the components. The heat in Guindy can be something else during the summer, so we have fans going all day. It’s not a quiet office environment; there’s always something humming or someone using a tool. We focus on getting the technical specs right. Most of the people working here have been in the power sector for quite a while. We don't have a lot of meetings about nothing; we just get our assignments and go to work. The location is good because it’s easy for parts to get delivered, even though the traffic in Guindy can be a nightmare in the evenings. We’ve got a small break area where we eat lunch, but otherwise, we’re out on the floor or at our stations. It’s straightforward work for people who understand how these power systems are supposed to function.
