Our office is out at The Futura Tech Park in Sholinganallur. We’re in Block B, number 334. Being on Rajiv Gandhi Salai means we deal with that OMR traffic every single day, which is never fun, but it’s where most of the tech and energy companies ended up. We work in renewables, mostly wind energy stuff, but the day-to-day is a lot of looking at monitors and sitting in meetings. The tech park is big and modern, which is a bit different from the smaller shops we started in, but it’s still just a place of work. We have a lot of engineers running around and people talking about turbine parts or site layouts. It gets a bit quiet in the block during the middle of the day, then picks up again towards the evening. We don't really go for the high-pressure corporate vibe you see in movies. It’s more about figuring out how to get things to work in the field. The cafeteria downstairs is okay, but we usually just bring our own lunch and eat at the desks. We spend a lot of time on the phone with people at the actual wind farms, trying to coordinate things from the city. It’s a lot of data and logistics. Sholinganallur has grown so much since we got here, and now it’s just a wall of buildings. It’s a long way from the quiet spots where the turbines actually sit. Sometimes the wind here in the tech park feels strong enough to power something itself.
