Being in Erode means you are right in the heart of turmeric country. Our unit is on Bhavani Main Road, which is always noisy with heavy traffic and trucks. The place is D.No. 204, and you can’t miss it because there’s often a yellow tint to the ground near the entrance. Turmeric processing is what we do, and it’s a very yellow business. Everything from the floors to the workers' clothes ends up stained after a few hours. We spend our time boiling, drying, and polishing the roots. The smell is very strong—it’s earthy and sharp, and it stays with you even after you go home. It’s a lot of physical labor, moving the heavy crates and making sure the drying yard is clear if it looks like it might rain. We have a crew that has been with us for years; they know exactly how long the turmeric needs to stay in the boiler. We don’t have any fancy corporate offices here. It’s mostly just the processing floor and a small area for the scales and the bags. People from the surrounding farms bring their harvest here, and it’s always a bit of a scramble during the peak season. We just try to keep the machines running and the quality decent without making a big fuss about it. It’s hard work, but it’s what Erode is known for, and we’re just a part of that whole system.
