Dr. Ramamurthi Clinic

If you head down to Mylapore and find your way to CIT Colony, you’ll see our clinic at number 27 on the Second Main Road. It’s a quiet enough street, mostly houses and some old trees that drop leaves all over the sidewalk. Dr. Ramamurthi has been seeing patients in this same spot for years. The clinic itself is on the ground floor, so it’s easy for the older folks in the neighborhood to get inside without worrying about stairs. We have a small waiting room with some wooden benches that can get a bit crowded on rainy days when everyone is trying to stay dry. There’s an old clock on the wall that’s always five minutes fast, but we never seem to fix it. The doctor’s office is tucked in the back, filled with medical books and some old framed certificates that have started to yellow a bit. People from the colony usually just walk over when they feel a cold coming on or need their blood pressure checked. We keep a ledger on the front desk to write down who comes in, though half the time we know who it is before they even speak. It’s a simple setup, nothing like the big hospitals across town. We just open the doors in the morning and see who shows up needing help. The air feels a bit still inside sometimes, so we keep the windows cracked open to let in a bit of a breeze.
