If you are looking for us, we are tucked away inside the Nehru Timber Market on Sattana Naicken Street. It is a bit of a strange spot for a lab, being on the second floor above all that wood and noise, but we have been at New No. 43 for some time now. You have to navigate past the trucks and the stacks of timber to find the stairs. Once you get up here to the second floor in Choolai, it is much quieter. We spend our mornings taking samples and getting the machines ready. It's not a shiny hospital environment. It's just a functional place where we do the blood work and testing. The air smells a bit like sawdust sometimes from the market below. We don’t have a fancy waiting room with leather chairs, just some basic seating for when people come in for their reports. Most of our day is spent looking at slides or waiting for results to print out. Sometimes the power flutters and we have to reset things, which is just part of being in this old building. We try to keep things simple. If a patient is confused about where to go, we usually tell them to look for the big timber piles and head for the stairs. It is honest work and we like being part of the Choolai area, even if the location is a bit hidden from the main road. It feels like the right spot for us.
