Central Electronics Engineering Research Institute

The Central Electronics Engineering Research Institute is tucked away inside the CSIR Madras Complex in Taramani. It’s a large campus, and sometimes people get a bit lost trying to find the specific Ceeri Centre building. Taramani is a busy hub, but once you get inside the complex, things quiet down a little. We have been here for a long time. The building has that old institutional feel to it, with long corridors and heavy doors. It isn’t the kind of place that’s been renovated recently to look all modern. There are a lot of papers stacked up and old equipment sitting in corners. It feels like a place where people have been thinking and working for decades. We don't have much in the way of fancy decor. It’s more about the desks and the labs. The heat in Chennai can be tough, so the fans are always going. Most of us take our lunch breaks together or walk over to the canteen. It’s a very steady environment. You don't see many changes from day to day. We just come in, get to our stations at the CSIR Madras Complex, and stay busy until it’s time to head out. It’s a practical space for the kind of work we do, even if it’s a bit grey and old-fashioned. We like the stability of it, and the fact that we have everything we need right here in the CSIR Madras Complex.
