Our location is at No.3 Easwaran Salai, just off the road that goes past Thangavelu Engineering College in Karapakkam. It’s a big site because we deal with some fairly heavy steel and metal products. You’ll see large stacks of metal bars and plates arranged in the yard. It’s a very industrial setting with a lot of clanging and banging as things get moved around. We have a large overhead crane that does most of the heavy lifting. The office is a separate little building near the gate. Inside, it’s mostly just metal desks and a lot of logbooks. We keep track of everything coming in from the ports and going out to the customers. It’s a dusty job, especially when the wind kicks up from the open fields nearby. We wear boots and hard hats most of the day for safety. The road outside can be a bit bumpy with all the heavy trucks passing through Karapakkam. We have a small canteen area where we sit for lunch and talk about the weekend. It’s not the kind of place that looks like a corporate headquarters. It’s a working yard where we handle specialized materials every day. We’ve got a good routine going and most of the drivers who come here know exactly where to park their rigs. It’s a lot of work, but we’ve got a system that seems to function well enough for us.
