AVANTI BUSINESS MACHINES LTD.

The office is on the fifth floor of J.P. Towers. It’s one of those buildings where you often have to wait a while for the lift because everyone in the building is in a big hurry. Nungambakkam is always packed with cars and people trying to get somewhere, so the noise from the street usually reaches us up here. Inside our space, it’s mostly just us and the business machines. We deal with all sorts of office equipment. There are usually stacks of paper and spare parts sitting on the desks. Sometimes it looks a bit messy when we are right in the middle of a big repair job. We’ve been in this spot long enough that the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we haven't gotten around to it. It isn't a fancy showroom or anything like that. It’s just where we come to work every morning. Usually, there’s a tea vendor nearby that we visit when things get a little too quiet. People come in to ask about copiers or printers and we just try to help them find what they need without making it a big complicated thing. The windows look out over the city, but we don't spend much time looking out of them. There is always a phone ringing or someone clicking away on a keyboard. It’s a standard office life for us. We keep track of everything in old ledgers and sometimes the computer. It works. Making sure the machines we sell actually do what they are supposed to do is the main thing we worry about.
