Al Asan Foundation

We're located on Masilamani Road in Royapettah. The address is a bit confusing with all those numbers—33/4 and 15/2-4—but once you find the building, it's easy. We've been in this part of Chennai for a long time. Royapettah is a busy place, and Masilamani Road is no different. There is always something going on outside our door. Inside, it's a bit calmer. We run the Al Asan Foundation from a few rooms here. It’s not a polished corporate space. We have mismatched chairs and stacks of folders everywhere. We mostly deal with helping people in the neighborhood with various needs. It could be anything from food to help with school fees. We don't have a big budget, so we just do what we can with what we have. Most of the people who work here are locals. We know the shopkeepers and the families nearby. It feels like a community hub more than an office. Sometimes people just drop in to say hello or ask for advice. We always have a pot of tea going. We don't use fancy words to describe what we do. We just try to be there for people when they need a hand. The Chennai heat can be brutal, so we have a couple of old fans that hum all day. It’s a simple setup, but it’s where we spend our days, and it works for us. We just keep going, day after day, helping our neighbors out in any small way we can manage.
