Akas Electronics Enterprises

You can find us at No.6, on the ground floor of East Coastal Cross Street in Besant Nagar. It’s a nice area to be in, especially with the breeze coming off the coast, though the salt air isn't always great for the electronics we work on. We have to keep things covered up pretty well. Akas Electronics Enterprises is just a small local shop. We spend most of our time at the back of the unit where the light is better for soldering and looking at circuit boards. The street outside is usually a bit quieter than the main roads in Chennai, which is a relief. Most of our day is spent listening to the radio while we figure out why something isn't turning on. It's not glamorous work, but it keeps us busy. We see a lot of the same people from the residential blocks nearby who stop in to ask questions or drop off a gadget. We’ve got shelves full of old components and boxes that we’ve collected over the years. It’s a bit of a mess sometimes, but we know where everything is. We don't have a big sign or anything, just the address on the door. It’s a steady rhythm here. We open the shutters early, sweep the floor, and start on the backlog. By the time evening rolls around, the street gets a little busier with people heading toward the beach.
