Lakshmi Caterers

We are over on Pillayar Koil Street in Guduvanchery. It is just number 5, a small place where we handle all our cooking. We started out quite a while ago because we liked making food for family gatherings. Now, we do it for everyone else too. The kitchen gets really hot in the afternoons when we have big orders. Usually, it is just a few of us chopping vegetables and stirring big pots. We don't have a big office or anything like that. People just walk in or call us when they have a wedding or a small pooja coming up. Sometimes we run out of things and have to rush to the local market to grab what we missed. It is a bit chaotic but we manage to get the food delivered on time. We use regular recipes that we learned from our parents and relatives. Nothing is too fancy or modern here. The floor is often wet from washing the big vessels and containers. We spend most of our day making sure the spices are right and the rice is cooked just enough. It is hard work on the legs, standing all day, but it feels good when the pots come back empty. We just try to do our job every day without making a big fuss about things. If you are walking down the street, you can usually smell the sambar from a block away. That is how you know we are in there working hard.
