Navatam Mahila Kissan Farmer Producer Company Limited is a group of women working together in Churchu. You can find us at our office at 00/27, right near the church and the post office. It’s a very local spot and everyone in the village knows where it is. We are farmers first. We spend most of our time out in the dirt, planting and harvesting whatever is in season. When we aren't in the fields, we meet at the office to talk about how to sell our crops. It’s a lot of talking and sometimes we don't all agree, but we figure it out. We don't have any fancy furniture or big computers. We mostly use notebooks and pens to keep track of our money and our seeds. Churchu is a small place, so we see the same faces every day at the market. We started this company because we wanted to have more control over our own lives and our own work. The weather is our biggest boss. If it rains too much or not enough, we all feel it. We aren't trying to do anything grand. We just want to make sure our families are fed and the crops don't go to waste in the fields. It is hard, simple work and we do it together as a community of women. We just take things as they come and try to survive each season.
