Rishiram

I am Rishiram and I run things out of Chimni, which is a small village in the Jhajjar district of Haryana. My address is simply the village and post office here, which tells you a lot about how we live. Being in a place like 124412 means you know your neighbors by name and they know exactly where to find you. It is a very traditional and simple setup I have here in this part of India. I don't use any complicated systems or expensive machines. Most of what I do is done by hand or with very basic tools that have been around for years. The work I do usually depends on the season and what the people in the village happen to need at that time. I've been in Chimni my whole life, so this isn't just a business for me, it's where I live and eat and sleep too. It can get very dusty here and the roads aren't always in the best shape, but we make do with what we have and don't complain much. I don't have a big marketing plan or even a proper sign outside. Most people just walk over to my door if they need something done. It’s a very direct way of working that you don't see in the cities. I wake up, check what needs to be done, and I get to it straight away. Some days are very long, especially when the Haryana weather is tough, but that’s just how life goes in the village for a worker.
