Bharath Arts & Crafts

Our little shop Bharath Arts & Crafts is located at 1549/2, Nizami Chowk in Channapatna. If you know this part of Ramanagara, you know it is famous for the wooden toys and lacquerware. We have been working out of this spot for quite some time now. It’s not a big fancy showroom or anything like that. Most days it is just us surrounded by wood shavings and the smell of paint. The machines make a lot of noise but that is just how it goes when you are making things by hand. We get people coming in from the main road sometimes just to see what we are doing. The address is 1549/2, Nizami Chowk Channapatna Ramanagara Dist and we’ve lived in this area basically our whole lives. Channapatna has changed a bit over the years but the way we do things here stays mostly the same. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything like that. It’s just a few of us trying to keep the tradition going and making sure the pieces look alright before they go out. Sometimes the wood isn't perfect but that's what makes it real I guess. We spend most of our day right here at the bench. If you ever find yourself near Nizami Chowk you might hear the lathes running. We just focus on the work at hand and try to stay busy. It’s a simple life but it keeps us going and we appreciate the neighbors.
