Uttam Sweets & Dairy Products

Down in Sector 46, we run a small shop focused on fresh dairy and traditional sweets. Our day starts before the sun is even up, usually around five, when the milk delivery comes in. We spend the first few hours boiling milk and setting curd in large containers. The shop has a very specific smell of fresh cream and sugar that never really goes away. We make our own barfi and ladoos in the back kitchen using old recipes that haven't changed in a long time. It’s a lot of manual work, stirring big pots and shaping the sweets by hand. We don't have any fancy packaging, just simple boxes and bags for the customers. During festival seasons, the place gets incredibly busy and we often run out of things faster than we can make them. People from around the sector come here for their daily milk or some fresh paneer for dinner. The floor is made of old tiles and we have to wash it down constantly because of the milk spills. We have a few benches outside where people can sit and have a quick snack. It’s a humble business, and we take pride in just making sure everything we sell is fresh and tastes like home.
