Umapravah Shakti Vahini Foundation

We operate the Umapravah Shakti Vahini Foundation from a house at 2819 Sector 47 C. It’s a residential neighborhood, so it feels very different from the commercial sectors of Chandigarh. There are plenty of trees on our street, and it’s usually quite peaceful during the day. We’ve turned part of the house into our office space. It’s not a fancy setup with a reception desk or anything like that. You just walk up the path and ring the bell. Inside, we have our computers and several bookshelves that are overflowing with folders. There is usually a pot of tea on the stove in the kitchen nearby. We like the homey feel because it keeps things relaxed. We spend a lot of time sitting around the main table talking about what we need to get done for the foundation. Sometimes the neighbor's kids are playing outside, or you can hear a vendor calling out on the street. It’s just a normal house in a normal sector. We don't have a big budget for decorating, so the furniture is a mix of things we’ve gathered over the years. It’s a bit cramped when we have a lot of people over, but we make it work. It feels more personal this way. We aren't a big institution; we are just a group of people working out of a home in Sector 47. It’s a quiet place to do some good work.
